feeling beachy...

seaside living sounds like a dream to me right about now...after just having stumbled over snow banks bringing my dog for her nightly jaunt, it has me cursing the heck out of all the snow everywhere! what am i doing to beat the winter blues right about now? well besides a glass of one of my fav pinot noirs (hob nob, if you must!), i have been trying to breathe some beach into my surroundings...how? splashes of turquoise, getting rid of any remaining red (hiding my red poinsettia in a corner hoping i don't have to watch it's demise!), and generally lightening up the look of the layers winter has forced upon me...
*for look above, try benjamin moore gray wisp 1570

i'm a huge fan of bare, painted white windows to let as much sunshine in as winter will allow. also- huge fan of stripes, and soft orange and blue combos... currently working on pulling together this scheme in my guest room, and will get pics up soon!

beautiful, huh? i was lisa's assistant for a couple years @ lisa teague studios in portsmouth, nh, and helped do some odds-and-ends at the york show house in york, maine. here is her space done in american clay earth plaster, custom painted canvas floor cloth, her hand painted screen and a few other lovelies...

now maybe if i lived by the sea this would be a little to much~ although think...a good place to dip little ones with sandy bodies in after a long day at the beach? ahhh....i'm totally in love with the idea!
maybe it's the long days in the sand i day dream about that captivate me, maybe it's the sun kissed glow i'm longing for, maybe it's the thought that nothing else could soothe my soul like a good long day at the beach can. ipod loaded with a solid playlist, lots of australian gold, a good snack and i'm a happy girl....till then, daydreams will have to do...soon enough though, right?
